Grand Canyon

by Stephen Hobley on February 17, 2006

The Grand Canyon is big. I mean really big. You won’t believe how vastly, hugely, mind bogglingly big it really is. I mean, you might think it’s a long way down the road to the coffee shop, but that’s just peanuts to the Grand Canyon…

It’s so big it’s almost impossible to photograph. This is my second visit and I still have to find a way to capture the feeling of standing on the south rim and looking at a hole many miles in diameter on film.

We also met a ram who was a full time male model.

He showed us some of his signature looks…

Le Tigre

…and did we mention the Elk?

There are no words to describe how big the Grand Canyon is. Wow!

The wild life – I think that they are used to us people wanting to take their pictures. All you have to do is ask them to strike a pose.

Hiked down some of the Bright Angel Trail. Didn’t realize that it was the toughest portion. Going down was easy. Coming up was very challenging. I thought that I was physically in great shape. I didn’t account for the high altitude. I swear there was no oxygen in the air!

That ram is totally striking a pose in the Le Tigre photo…its sassy attitute really comes through!

But what I can’t believe is the burro (?) riders trusting the animals not to pitch them off the cliff…not in a million years would I ride one of those…how far down was it, out of curiousity?
