Pete put together this pressurized static spark gap – the results are some of the best we’ve seen so far.

Hi Pete, i have just completed a coil from Tesla Stuff, works very well. i liked you video clip of the pressurized spark gap. I’m not sure, but i guess the air rushing around the edge of the tubes helps to extinguish the spark and keep the electrodes cool. Is it an an advantage to extinguish the spark quickly ?? If this is the case maybe an electromagnet or rare earth magnet mounted close to the gap will suck away the arc as it does in the contacts of hi current DC contactors. I might give it a try.
