Quick! Up the stairs...

Before we begin I need to make it clear that Daleks are (c) The Estate of Terry Nation…

I built this Dalek in 2009 – it took several months to get it to this state – I had HUGE help from a guy called Dave Duca who built the original molds – and did a fantastic job. For more info on this build, Dave’s and others check out www.projectdalek.com

Update : Check out this recent posting on how to make the Dalek voice box.

…and this post where you can see Dave’s awesome Black Dalek and my Gold one…

Some movies of my 2009 Dalek build…

I was going to try to make a Dalek myself . Now that I’ve seen yours I realise the task is massive and very expensive ! The only problem in my head now is that I thought the little silver bit was the gun and the plunger was some kind of arm. Am I wrong? I think I’ll stick to making guitars. I’m not bad at that and it’s not so expensive!
All the best

hi nice job on the Dalek.
Just wondering the Blue LED light can you remember what type it was you used ? and the lens on the eye is it clear or blue? as i try looking at all pictures/videos of the BBC Dalek eye lens but its confusing the hell out of me lol . the way you have set up your eye on your dalek looks the same way as BBC ones

The LED is a jumbo (1cm) blue from Fry’s Electronics.

The lens is an old 50mm Nikkor manual lens I stripped down and attached a tiny servo. The iris is the aperture control of that lens.
I thought I had some pictures of the build somewhere, I’ll have to dig them out and post them…

I used a motor controller – check out trossen robotics for h-bridge motor controllers that can connect to an RC receiver.
