Laser Harp Plans for Sale

Post image for Laser Harp Plans for Sale

From 2008 to 2010 I offered plans and schematics to build your own laser harp. I recently entered into an arrangement with Lightwave International to develop the next generation laser harp instrument.

At this time, sales of the existing plans are suspended.

If you want to be contacted when there is an update, please submit your email in the yellow box on the right.

(I absolutely 100% won’t sell you email into slavery – I promise!)

Quick Laser Harp FAQ :
1. Can you build one for me?
No, all Laser Harp sales/rental now have to be done through LWI

2. How much does it cost to build one?
My first one cost me about $5000 – but the next one only cost $600 – amazing how much money you can save when you know what you’re doing.

3. How long did it take to build?
22 years just thinking about it, but 6 months of hard work getting the prototype working.

4. Are they dangerous?
Yes, you must take the correct safety precautions when handling this class of laser.

Any more questions? – please get in touch here.

Eh. That’s alright, if push come to shove I can always make my own design. (Or steal yours! XD Just kidding, only kidding. I have absolutely no idea how I’d steal the designs. )

I am very interested in purchasing a copy of the plans you’ve put together for this project. I would imagine they’ve been rescinded at the company’s request, but nevertheless, i subscribed to the mailing list.

I want to build a laser harp for my senior class project, and give it to my college for future classes to study.

I’ve been looking for answers and plans here for several years…dude do you or this harp exist??

Stephen Hobley April 17, 2013 at 10:14 am

Not any more – that goes for me to.

I have been consumed by the internet.

Does anyone offer plans for an Arduino laser harp kit?

I have seen some simple plans where each laser beam is a different note but I thought that the Stephen Hobley design took it a step further where many notes can be made with each beam as range finders are also used…

What does it cost to build one of these and where can a person find the galvanometer/mirror assembly relatively inexpensive?

Stephen Hobley April 18, 2013 at 2:21 pm

I spent about $5K prototyping the project 5 years ago.

I think things are cheaper now – I used to get my galvo’s and lasers from eBay. I just took a look there now and the vendors I used to use are no longer trading, but there are plenty of alternatives.

For a junior year physics project a friend and I have been debating between this and a interactive hologram display. Required to use an arduino, he likes lasers, I like synthesizers and music, so this came up. I am more than willing to purchase the plans as after school, it would be a kick ass addition to my bedroom or my band!
This an awesome invention!
